In this project, we made a google slides presentation about an American Hero. We wrote less about them and more about how the fit the definition of hero and how they changed things in the world.
This assignment best addresses Communication skills because I had to present it to the class. I really like the way the slides turned out. They are simple, easy to read and they get the point through. This improved my presentation and communication skills because we had a script that was separate from the slides to read from. It was hard to talk about the courage they faced. It wasn't something you could look up so you had the rephrase the information that you found to talk about the courage needed to do what they did. If I redid this project, I would try not to repeat information. I did that a few times on this project and it makes it feel really repetitive even if its only one or two facts. Last year we did the Hawaiian heroes project. It was a little bit like this but also really different. I've never done a project where you look at the person in one specific aspect rather than the whole picture. In future projects, I might look more carefully at how that person fits the definition of a hero. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Dz87eDSZTKpPtDaHGSyjJQ01MO_MvFdxHHOgd1cL6tE/edit?usp=sharing |
being In this project, we had to to make a logo for our name using the building blocks of geometry. Each element is color coded and it must fit into your name.
This project represents Thinking and Problem Solving. This project was almost like a puzzle, you had to fit all the necessary elements into your name while still making it look nice and neat. I really like the 'S.' I need somewhere to put more of the elements that I needed because they didn't all fit in my name without overlapping so I made the 'S' really fancy and I think it turned out really nice. I improved my thinking and problem solving skills in this project by being more creative and finding better solutions to problems. The hardest part of this project was making the 'S.' It took me a while to get all the angles and measurements to match up properly. If I did this project again, I would probably try to make it look more like a logo, not just a fancy name. In the past, I've learned about lines, planes, angles etc... but we learned about them in depth this time rather than just the general idea of them. In the future, knowing these terms will help me to better understand how they are being used in the topic. |
For this project we had code a mini quiz show on Scratch. The host asks you three questions and you answer each one and at the end the host reveals your final score.
This project best represents information skills because I had to research what I going to use for the questions. I'm really glad that I didn't have any trouble getting this to work properly. I didn't have to go back and change or fix anything. I improved my information skills because I used a book to get my information rather than the internet. The hardest part of this project was probably the repetition. It is almost the exact same code for each question so I would copy it but sometimes I would forget to change something so I would have to go back and fix it. If I did this project again, I would probably just change the characters and questions but otherwise keep it the same. In the past, we have used to Scratch to code things but this project was more complicated than past assignments. In the future, this will help me to code more complicated projects on Scratch. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/439426695 |
In this project, we had to make a comic strip that gives two examples of both physical and chemical changes.
This project best address Self-Directional skills because I really had to manage my time well to finish this project on time and turn it in physically at school. I liked that the addition of the chemical and physical changes didn't make the story seem super weird. They already fit into the story a little. In this project I improved my self-directional skills because I finished the project a few days before its due date and I had to make sure to turn it in at school on time. The hardest part of this project was probably making the physical and chemical changes fit into the story without making the story weird. If I redid this project I would probably make the pictures nicer and with more detail and I would add more dialog. In the past we have learned about physical and chemical changes. In eighth grade we made a book about the different water phases that was a little bit like this project. In the future, when we look and physical and chemical changes on a molecular level I will be able to understand what is happening on the surface. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-d53Mh71nx_PgN6pQ645KRZz357aWan1ZPl7ue8xLOM/edit?usp=sharing |
